(#135) Wager

A baseball post in November! Argh! This is what happens when I draft a caption and then don't get around to finishing it until later!

(#129) Guidance

So when my guidance counselor said, "Study what you'll enjoy and you'll never work a day in your life," I listened. Now I have no marketable skills and I'm unemployed, but, at least their prediction was true!

(#124) One of the Boys

If you have to wear a shirt that says "One of the Boys," to feel confident that you are a boy, that might be an indication that it isn't true.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! All of you have given me my biggest milestone to date: 100,000 views!
Back in September, when I still had less than 45,000 views, Dee predicted that I would hit 100,000 sometime before Christmas. Well, she was right. You helped me reach that mark before Thanksgiving! There have been more views in the past two months than the previous six combined!

So what does all that mean? Why measure views to begin with? Just because a blog gets tons of views doesn't mean that it is any good. Unfortunately, views are the only true method of feedback I have as to whether you enjoy what I do. Sure, some of you comment (and it is greatly appreciated), but the comment to view ratio is less that 1:1000, and that counts my own reply comments.

So views tell me that you enjoy what you read. If you weren't enjoying it, then you would stop coming. But instead you keep coming back, and each day there are more and more of you. This makes me happy. Obviously I don't judge my self-worth based on a number on a computer screen, but it is still a nice feeling. In my opinion new content is important, and that required frequent posts. Posting frequently is a lot of work. So, its nice to know that the hard work is appreciated by all of you.

So what else is in store as we look forward to the next 100,000 views?
Well, you don't need to worry about a shortage of captions! Those are currently scheduled for the next few months. Beginning tomorrow is a three-part series for those who like bimbo-type captions. As December begins there are six or so Star Wars related captions in advance of the new movie. Then there will be some Christmas captions, and cold weather captions, New Year's captions, and Valentine's Day captions. As I said, I've had some productive days recently.

Obviously I can't keep getting further ahead of schedule! I'm not sure I'm mentally ready for Saint Patrick's Day captions yet. Also, I'm mildly burned out from captioning, but thankfully, that's what High Voltage is for. Within the last week or so I have begun picking up the pen and writing more of High Voltage. I've watched the views for the existing story and I am taking your non-verbal cues to heart. Obviously the story isn't going to be for everyone, but there are some changes I can make to make it easier and more enjoyable for you. Part of the issue with the current two chapters, is that I originally wrote them with a different format in mind. That format favored long writing and a plethora of choices. Telling the story in caption format does not.

Where as chapters 1 and 2 told a continuous story (describes you walking room to room, or driving from place to place), future chapters will be written with the format in mind which should cut down on some of the extraneous words. Additionally, future chapters will be shorter, and more bite-sized than Chapter 2. Chapter 1 was probably an acceptable length, but Chapter 2 covered quite a bit and allowed for a lot of branching. Smaller chapter sizes will make it easier for you to read, and easier for me to complete.

Thanks for your continued support of my blog. I'll continue to have these lustful thoughts as long as you enjoy sharing them with me.
